Acting on specific intelligence, officers of the High-Performance Unit (HPU), Customs Cochin Preventive Commissionerate (C.C.P), intercepted a passenger bound for Ras-Al Khaimah, U.A.E, from Cochin International Airport today. The passenger was scheduled to travel on Flight 6E 1493.On the basis of reasonable suspicion, the officers conducted a detailed examination of the passenger’s trolley bag at the Departure Hall, which led to the recovery of approximately 5,500 grams of Hybrid Ganja (Hydroponic Weed), valued at around ₹5.5 crore in the international market. The narcotic substance was ingeniously concealed inside food packets.
The passenger has been arrested under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act. Further investigation is underway.
