Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala were bowled out for 255 runs in the first innings against Goa in the C.K. Nayudu Trophy for under-23 players. Shaun Roger, who scored a century, shone in the Kerala batting line-up. Goa, who came out to bat in reply, had scored 15 runs without losing a wicket when play was stopped on the first day. For Kerala, who lost the toss and elected to bat first, Abhishek J. Nair and S.S. Akshay opened the innings. Akshay scored 11 and Abhishek 18 runs. Varun Nayanar and Shaun Roger’s partnership of 130 runs for the third wicket laid the foundation for Kerala’s innings. Varun, continuing his good form from the last match, scored 64 runs. However, Ahmed Imran, who came in after Varun, returned on the first ball. Asif Ali and captain Abhijit Praveen also failed to perform well. Asif Ali scored nine and Abhijit Praveen six runs.
