Department of Justice organised the Swachhata Pakhwada 2026 from 1st April to 15th April 2026 wherein a number of activities were organised with the aim to promote awareness about health, personal hygiene and mental well-being in both personal and professional life of all the officers and staff.
Half an hour Yoga Session was organised by the Department for all on 02.04.2026 thereby encouraging employees to actively include yoga as an essential part in their lifestyle. The session included during the Pakhwada period towards urging them to renew their commitment to the cause of cleanliness, hygiene and well-being in both personal and professional spaces.
To express their views on cleanliness and hygiene an essay writing competition in Hindi was organised in the Department on 09.04.2026 for officers and staff.
A Shramdaan activity was organised on 10.04.2026 in the Jaisalmer House premises followed by tree plantation drive under the guidance of Shri Niraj Verma, Secretary (Justice). The drive has been organised towards motivating officials to also take part in plantation activity at the nearby places of their residence or at any suitable location to make the environment green. Secretary (Justice) emphasized the importance on the requirement of consistent efforts in achieving the clean, green, and sustainable environment.
A drawing competition was also organised on 10.04.2026 on Swachhata for children of officers/officials of DoJ. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from children and served as a strong motivation to them.
During the pakhwada, Department also organised a session / module on the iGoT Mission LiFE (Lifestyle For Environment) on 13.04.2026 for all to learn and adopt sustainable daily actions to protect the environment, fostering a network of ‘Pro Planet People’ to combat climate change. The aim of the session has been to generate awareness on to replace the ‘use and dispose economy’ with a ‘circular economy’ emphasising individual responsibility for environment sustainability.
During the Swachhata Pakhwada celebration, the Department of Justice also observed the ‘Malyarpan’ ceremony of the statue of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar on the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on Tuesday the 14th April 2026. The event was organized to pay homage to the architect of the Indian Constitution and to reaffirm commitment to his ideals of equality, justice, and social empowerment and for social reforms women, labourers, and marginalized communities. Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Law and Justice paid floral tribute to the statue of Dr. B.R Ambedkar situated in the front lawn of Jaisalmer House premises.
Further remembering Dr. Ambedkar’s monumental contributions to the society, Shri Niraj Verma, Secretary (Justice), former Secretaries of the Department and other Senior officers also paid tribute to the Dr. Ambedkar during the occasion.
These activities witnessed enthusiastic participation from officers and staff, strengthen the spirit of collective responsibility towards maintaining cleanliness and hygiene at workplaces and beyond. Various awards were given to officers under different categories of Swachhata Activities/Competitions held during the Pakhwada. The Department remains committed to the ideals of Swachh Bharat Mission and will continue to promote cleanliness and sustainability through regular initiatives, campaigns and activities.
