business100news.com/ Kollam: The number of coaches in the MEMU trains operating on the Kollam–Ernakulam–Kollam (06169/70) and Kollam–Kottayam–Kollam (66315/16) routes has been increased from eight to twelve, informed MP Kodikunnil Suresh.

This decision comes in response to long-standing demands and repeated complaints from passengers. The move is expected to bring significant relief to regular commuters.

During the recent Parliament session, MP Kodikunnil Suresh met the Union Railway Minister and the Chairman of the Railway Board in person to highlight the severe overcrowding in MEMU trains. He explained the difficulties faced by students, working professionals, women, and senior citizens, and urged immediate intervention.

Emphasizing passenger safety and convenience, he strongly demanded an increase in the number of coaches. Following his intervention, the railway authorities took favorable action and increased the number of coaches to twelve in both services.

The decision is expected to reduce overcrowding and make travel safer and more comfortable for the thousands of passengers who depend on these routes daily.
