The Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (IHMCT), Kovalam, functioning under the Union Ministry of Tourism, achieves a significant milestone by securing top positions in the Global Human Resource Development Center (GHRDC) rankings. The institute has been ranked first among government hotel management institutions in Kerala and eighth at the national level.

The achievement was announced by Dr. T. Ananthakrishnan, Principal of IHMCT, while addressing the Inter Media Publicity Coordination Committee (IMPCC) meeting held at the Hotel Residency, Thiruvananthapuram. The meeting was organised by PIB in collaboration with Indiatourism, Kochi and attended by representatives of various central government institutions.

Highlighting the institute’s academic strengths and infrastructure, Dr. Ananthakrishnan said that applications for admission to the B.Sc. in Hospitality and Hotel Administration (B.Sc. HHA) programme will be accepted until January 26, 2026. He noted that IHMCT offers state-of-the-art training facilities, including seven training kitchens, three training restaurants, two bakeries, a modern housekeeping laboratory, well-equipped classrooms, and a library housing over 4,000 books.

He further stated that the institute provides world-class training through international collaborations with leading global hospitality brands. Emphasizing the institute’s strong industry connect, Dr. Ananthakrishnan said that IHMCT has consistently achieved 100 per cent placement over the past 12 years.

The Principal also pointed out that the institute serves the public by offering its premises as an affordable venue for organizing festive and social events.
