pathanamthittA District Collector S Prem Krishnan said that security will be ensured at the view points for the Sabarimala Makara Jyothi Darshan. He was speaking while presiding over a review meeting held at the Collectorate Conference Hall to assess the preparations for the Makaravilakku and Thiruvabharanam procession. Pilgrims will not be allowed to enter unauthorized view points. Security fences will be installed at the view points and on dangerous routes. Dangerous tree branches will be cut and removed.

Police will provide security for the Thiruvabharaman procession. There will be special police surveillance at the Pandalam temple. Streetlights, drinking water, bio-toilets, etc. will be ensured at the places where the Thiruvabharaman passes. Excise inspections will be strengthened.

Women police officers will also be deployed at Mufti. Arrangements will be made for the unhindered passage of Thiruvabharanam carriers from Valianavattom to Sannidhanam. The police and the Motor Vehicle Department will jointly control traffic. The Devaswom Board will make announcements at the view points and give instructions.

There will be a medical team including an ambulance at the view points and with the procession. On January 12, when the Thiruvabharanam procession begins, the Kulanada Health Center will be open till 6 pm, and on the days when the Thiruvabharanam passes, the Cherukol, Kanjittukara, Vadasserikkara, and Ranni Perunad Health Centers will be open 24 hours a day. Private hospitals will also be set up to deal with emergencies. A special control room will be open at the District Medical Office on Makaravilakku day. The Forest Department will deploy elephant squads and rapid red sponge teams on the Thiruvabharanam route. Local bodies will clean the bridges at the intermediate stops and install danger signs. Lifeguards will be deployed.

KSRTC will run additional services on the Nilakkal-Pamba route in connection with Makaravilakku. There will also be additional services to Pandalam on the day the Thiruvabharanam procession begins. An additional long-distance service will also be arranged for pilgrims returning after Makaradarshan. The Fire Force will prepare a scuba team. Illegal parking will be prevented under the leadership of the Motor Vehicle Department. The District Collector also said that a joint security yatra will be organized at view points on January 7 with the involvement of various departments under the leadership of the district administration.
