The oath-taking ceremony of the elected members of the local self-government bodies will be held on December 21. Those elected to the 17 divisions under the Pathanamthitta District Panchayat will take the oath at the District Planning Secretariat Conference Hall at 10 am. The senior member among the elected members will take the oath or affirmation first before the District Collector, who is the District Election Officer. The senior member who takes the oath first will be the one who takes the oath and then the other members will take the oath/affirmation.
The oath-taking process will begin at 10 am in Gram Panchayats, Block Panchayats and Municipalities. In Gram Panchayats and Block Panchayats, the oath or affirmation will be taken before the Returning Officers of the respective institutions. In Municipal Councils, the senior member will take the oath before the Returning Officer appointed for this purpose. After the oath-taking, a meeting of the elected members will be held under the chairmanship of the member who took the oath first. In the meeting, the Secretary will explain the Commission’s notification regarding the election of the Chairman and Vice-Chairman.
