The Sabarimala pilgrimage concluded with the performance of the Malikappuram Guruthi ritual in front of the Manimandapam. The ceremony was held after the sanctum sanctorum was closed following the chanting of Harivarasanam, in the presence of Pandalam royal representative Punarthamnal Narayana Varma.
In front of the Manimandapam, five ritual kalams with 64 divisions were prepared using banana leaves and tender coconut fronds. A ceremonial torch was lit at the center, and the area was decorated with traditional oil lamps, flower bunches, and garlands.
The ritual was performed after the royal representative returned from the Sannidhanam following Harivarasanam. As part of the Guruthi, a red offering prepared by mixing turmeric powder and lime was offered, and a pumpkin was ceremonially cut. Prasadam was later distributed to the devotees.
Prior to the Guruthi, the Malikappuram shrine was closed and the Melshanthi returned to the Sannidhanam. In the presence of the royal representative, the ritual functionaries locked the Manimandapam and handed over the key to the Devaswom officials.
As part of the Makaravilakku festival, the Manimandapam was opened for only six days. Members of the Ranni Kunnakkattu family—Ratish Ayyappakurup, Ajith Janardhana Kurup, and Jayakumar Janardhana Kurup—led the Guruthi rituals.
