The 24-hour nationwide strike called by the Joint Trade Union Committee has begun in protest against the Central Government’s anti-labour policies. Political parties including CPI(M) and CPI, along with agricultural workers’ organizations, government employee unions, and teachers’ organizations, are participating in the strike.
Motor vehicle workers are also part of the protest, resulting in disruptions to road transport services. Workplaces are expected to remain closed. In Kerala, the Joint Action Committee has decided to intensify the strike.
Ahead of the national strike, the government has declared “Dies Non.” This means government employees who do not report for duty will not receive salary for the day. The order applies to teachers and other government employees participating in the strike.
