Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Cricket Association has made three major amendments to its bylaws, the office bearers said in a press release. The association has made revolutionary changes to its bylaws to ensure greater participation and transparency in cricket governance as the association completes 75 years of its establishment. The bylaws have been revised in such a way that membership of the association, which was previously limited to 14 district cricket associations and retired international players, will now be available to retired male and female players, umpires, scorers and curators.
With the introduction of the new amendment, individuals who have worked for the comprehensive development of Kerala cricket will also be able to be granted individual membership in the association.
In addition, new categories of honorary membership, KCA Club House Membership and KCA Stadium Membership have also been included for those who have made significant contributions to the cricket sector. As part of strengthening the administrative functions, it has also been decided to increase the number of members in the Apex Council, the executive committee of the KCA. The current nine-member council will be expanded with the amendment.
Another major amendment is the relaxation in the eligibility of former players for cricket committees and selection committees. These positions, which were previously reserved for those who had played 25 first-class matches, will now be available to all former Ranji Trophy players.
KCA President Adv. Sreejith V. Nair commented that this amendment to the law is a recognition of those who have contributed to the development of cricket in Kerala and that this will give more people the opportunity to participate in the activities of the association.
KCA Secretary Vinod S Kumar said that the Apex Council will become stronger when the new amendments come into effect. He also said that the change in the selection committee will create a lot of opportunities for former Ranji players.
