Your Excellency, and my younger sister, Prime Minister Takaichi ji,

delegates from both countries,

Media friends,

Hello!

Konichi Wa

I am delighted to welcome Prime Minister Takaichi on his first visit to India for the India-Japan Annual Summit.

He is also Japan’s first female prime minister, and also a visionary and popular leader. Not only this, they come from the Nara Prefecture of Japan, which is a very important center of India-Japan’s shared Buddhist heritage.

Friends,

Just a few days ago, at the G7 Summit, I had said that in today’s atmosphere of global turmoil, mutual trust is our biggest strategic asset. And I am proud that the India-Japan partnership fully stands this test.

Over the past several decades, from automotive to electronics, Japan has created an invaluable capital of friendship and trust by becoming an important part of India’s growth story.

And today, with the visit of Prime Minister Takaichi, we are beginning a new chapter in our Special Strategic and Global Partnership.

Friends,

Today, both India and Japan are among the largest units in the world. A free, prosperous, and rules-based Indo-Pacific is our shared priority.

As the region’s largest democratic and market economy, today we have taken many important initiatives. Together with them, we will pave the way for peace, stability and progress in the entire region.

Friends ,

Prime Minister Takaichi and I believe that technology partnership will become the strongest pillar of our cooperation. To realize this same vision, today we have also released a joint statement in the field of AI. Many prominent institutions of the Indian AI ecosystem have also signed agreements with their Japanese partners today. Japan’s concept of precision technology and India’s software capability will give a new momentum and power to global AI development.

In the field of defense, today we have signed an agreement on the first co-development project of India and Japan. This project of Naval Radio Antenna will open a new chapter in our defense technology partnership. Now we will develop such defense technologies together, which will strengthen regional peace, maritime security and rules-based order.

With the agreements made today in pharma, medical devices and bio-tech, we will also contribute to global health security. By combining the scale of India and the quality of Japan, we will work to reach affordable, reliable, and advanced health solutions to the world.

Friends,

The India-Japan investment partnership is constantly strengthening. In the last one year, more than 100 new business agreements have been signed, which will bring more than 10 billion dollars of Japanese investment in India. Today, capital and investment flows will be easier with the agreement between financial services agencies.

Our goal is clear: 10 trillion yen investment in India from Japan in the next 10 years, and doubling the number of Japanese companies in India. With the continuous reforms in India, the ease of doing business has increased, Japanese companies can also take advantage of it.

Friends,

In today’s uncertain era, both India and Japan understand the importance of economic security and energy security. In this direction, today we have prepared a joint roadmap for economic security. Through this, we will strengthen supply chain resilience in strategic areas like semiconductor, quantum, and advanced materials.

Today we have taken many important decisions in the field of energy security. Through the India-Japan Bio-gas initiative, we will help in installing a thousand bio-gas and organic fertilizer plants in India. This will further strengthen our Govardhan initiative.

This will give new strength to sustainability, profitability, and rural livelihoods in the villages of India. Today we have also taken an important initiative on energy resilience to deal with situations like oil shock. At the same time, our cooperation in battery, green hydrogen and nuclear energy will make a significant contribution to the clean energy future of the world.

India and Japan together take economic security as shared security, and energy transition as a shared opportunity, and we will work towards moving forward, we will change it.

Friends,

Today we have also prepared the India-Japan Next Generation Mobility Partnership Framework. With this, we will now replicate our success story in the automotive sector, in areas like shipbuilding, aviation and logistics.

Friends,

The great strength of our relationship is our people-to-people ties. We are also increasing opportunities for talent mobility, skilling and technical internship programs. And research, education and start-up cooperation between the two countries are also strengthening.

We are very happy that next year we are going to celebrate the 75th anniversary of India-Japan relations diplomatic. On this important occasion, we will connect and deepen culture, tourism, and creative economy cooperation.

Your Excellency,

India and Japan have economies. From cultural values to modern technology, our thinking and approach are also in common.

And above all, the foundations of our relationship rest on unbreakable mutual trust. I am confident that this special partnership of ours will take to new heights, our vision of a strong and prosperous Japan, our resolve of a developed India and the progress of the world.

May your vision of a strong and prosperous Japan, our resolve of a developed India, and realize the progress of the whole world together.

I once again welcome you very much from your heart.

Thank you very much.
