US President Donald Trump has announced that the ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran has ended. According to Trump, although both sides had accepted a memorandum of understanding (MoU) last month, the ceasefire collapsed after continued attacks by both parties.

Trump made the statement while speaking at a NATO leaders’ meeting. Responding to questions, he said, “It appears the ceasefire is over.” He also strongly criticized Iran’s leadership.

Reports suggest that the US action came in response to Iranian attacks on commercial vessels travelling through the Strait of Hormuz. Following this, the US reportedly carried out strikes targeting several locations in Iran.

In response to the US strikes, reports said Iran launched attacks targeting US military facilities in Bahrain and Kuwait. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed that it had targeted several locations.

Following Iran’s missile and drone attacks, Kuwait’s military said its air defence systems had been activated. In Bahrain, warning sirens were reported to have sounded, and the Interior Ministry advised residents to seek shelter in safe locations.
