Vice President Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan today inaugurated the Aranmula Uthrittathi Vallamkali on the River Pamba, describing the traditional boat race as a glorious symbol of Kerala’s rich cultural heritage, devotion and timeless traditions.
The Vice President said the Aranmula Vallamkali, closely associated with Onam and the sacred tradition of Vallasadya, reflects the values of teamwork, discipline and sportsmanship.
He highlighted the spectacular sight of beautifully decorated Palliyodams, with more than a hundred oarsmen rowing in perfect rhythm, showcasing Kerala’s enduring traditions, unity and cultural spirit.
